§ Dr. Howells[holding answer 3 November 1998]The Department of Trade and Industry monitors the European Commission's six-monthly reports on car prices across the EU. These comprehensive reports compare the prices in each Member State (including the United Kingdom) of the best-selling models in the EU.
The Department does not currently monitor the comparative prices of motor vehicles in either Japan or the United States.
