HC Deb 09 November 1998 vol 319 cc2-3W
Mr. Ian Bruce

To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office (1) how much holiday entitlement civil servants have been allowed to carry forward to their next holiday year; [59026]

(2) on what date a civil servant's year starts for holiday purposes; and what the normal holiday entitlement is for new starters; [59025]

(3) what changes have been made to holiday entitlement rules for civil servants because of the Working Time Regulations 1998. [59027]

Mr. Kilfoyle

Responsibility for determining holiday entitlement for staff was delegated to departments and agencies on 1 April 1996, except for the amount of annual leave in the Senior Civil Service. In general, holiday entitlement within the Civil Service meets or exceeds the limits set by the Working Time Regulations; it is expected that most civil servants will be unaffected by the Regulations. Responsibility for decisions on whether any changes are required to comply with the Regulations lies with departments and agencies.
