HC Deb 05 November 1998 vol 318 c655W
Mr. Waterson

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will review the procedures surrounding the payment of criminal injuries compensation. [58189]

Mr. Boateng

The procedures surrounding the payment of criminal injuries compensation are regularly reviewed within the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA)—the body which administers the tariff-based scheme introduced with effect from 1 April 1996—as part of the normal management process. CICA's objective is to make awards as soon as the extent of injury and any consequential financial loss has been properly established. There are no plans to undertake any special procedural reviews at this time.
