HC Deb 04 November 1998 vol 318 c609W
13. Mr. Nicholas Winterton

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what assessment he has made of the impact of the future Welsh Assembly on his accountability to hon. Members. [56589]

Mr. Michael

The establishment of the National Assembly for Wales will alter the range of issues for which the Secretary of State for Wales is responsible but he will remain accountable to Parliament for those functions which he retains, notably the promotion of primary legislation. The Government intend to submit evidence to the Procedure Committee of the House of Commons for its inquiry into the procedural consequences of devolution shortly.
