To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what arrangements she has made for this year's review of the operation of the Northern Ireland (Emergency Provisions) Act 1996. [58565]

I am pleased to announce that Mr. John Jermyn Rowe, QC has accepted my invitation to carry out the annual review for 1998 of the Northern Ireland (Emergency Provisions) Act 1996, including those provisions inserted by the Criminal Justice (Terrorism and Conspiracy) Act 1998. If necessary, Mr. Rowe will also carry out reviews for the following two years.
