§ Ms Glenda JacksonSpeed limiters on heavy goods vehicles first used on or after 1 August 1992 and with a maximum gross weight exceeding 7,500 kg but not exceeding 12,000 kg must be calibrated to a set speed not exceeding 60 mph. Speed limiters on heavy goods vehicles with a maximum gross weight exceeding 12,000 kg first used on or after 1 January 1988 must be set so that the stabilised speed of the vehicle does not exceed 90 km/h (55.9 mph). The former class of vehicle is the subject of national legislation but not EC legislation; the latter class is the subject of both.
