HC Deb 04 November 1998 vol 318 c575W
Mr. Gerrard

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what action he took to monitor the equipment being exhibited at the Contingency and Operational Equipment Exhibition at Wembley on 22 to 24 September. [57331]

Mr. Boateng

This was a privately organised exhibition and was not monitored by the Home Office. However, members of staff from the Public Scientific Development Branch (part of the Home Office Police Policy Directorate) attended the exhibition in their capacity as advisers to the police service on law enforcement equipment.

Mr. Gerrard

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what prosecutions are pending as a result of offences committed by companies attempting to trade in torture equipment at the Contingency and Operational Equipment Exhibition at Wembley on 22 to 24 September. [57332]

Mr. Boateng

I am not aware of any prosecutions pending which arise from the Contingency and Operational Equipment Exhibition at Wembley on 22 to 24 September 1998.
