§ Mr. Byers[holding answer 2 November 1998]: The historical figures for public expenditure on agriculture in the UK can be obtained from "Agriculture in the UK" publications, and the GDP deflator series from the Treasury's deflator table (available in the House of Commons Library). The latest estimate for 1998–99 UK expenditure is £3,466 million. The UK totals for the years 1999–2000 to 2001–02 have not yet been finalised.
