To ask the Minister of State, Lord Chancellor's Department what changes he plans to make to the cash and running costs limits of the Lord Chancellor's Department Class VIII, Vote 1 for 1998–99. [58087]

Subject to Parliamentary approval of the necessary Supplementary Estimate, the cash limit for Class VIII Vote 1 will be reduced by £2,258,000 from £561,119,000 to £558,861,000. The running costs limit will be reduced by £39,000 from £458,100,000 to £458,061,000.

The reduction to the running costs limit relates to transfers of £485,000 returning to the Home Office owing to the revised timetable for ECHR training under the Human Rights Act 1998 and £446,000 from the Home Office in respect of the Crime and Disorder Bill.

The cash limit reduction of £2,258,000 relates to transfers of £2,065,000 to the Home Office (owing to revised timetable for ECHR training under the Human Rights Act 1998), £1,338,000 from and £1,251,000 to the Home Office (Crime and Disorder Bill), and £280,000 to Supplementary Credit Approvals non-voted expenditure (as a result of a transfer of funds from Magistrates Courts Current Grant to Capital Grant).
