§ Mr. ByersThere are no beacon schools at present. I have invited those 177 schools recently identified by HMCI as "best performing" to consider beacon school status and to respond by 1 June. A number of other schools have also expressed interest in becoming beacon schools. A list of schools awarded beacon status will be published before the end of the summer term.
