§ Mr. WilsonFull information on deferred entry is not available centrally. However, provisional results from the September 1997 school census show that, for 2,209 pupils in nursery schools and nursery classes in Scotland in 1997–98, entry to primary P1 had been deferred. These figures relate to publicly funded and independent nursery schools and classes only, and do not include private nurseries, day care units and other forms of pre-school establishments, on which information is not available.
