§ Clare ShortThe Department for International Development (DFID) provided an estimated £123 million through multilateral programmes in 1997–98. In 1997, we also provided a further £30 million to UN agencies through our bilateral and emergency programmes in response to specific appeals.
In 1998–99, we plan to provide at least £117 million to the UN through our multilateral programmes. In addition, we expect to provide further assistance under our bilateral and emergency aid programmes.
