§ Mrs. RocheThe Government believe that outward investment can make a significant contribution to sustainable development. As part of the DTI's response to the Export Forum report, a new Directorate has been established in DTI to review and strengthen our support for UK companies making such strategic investment overseas. The Department also continues to run the Technology Partnership Initiative, which seeks to promote technology co-operation with developing countries, and which can facilitate the transfer of the environmental technologies, which are crucial to the achievement of sustainable development.
