§ 14. Mr. DalyellTo ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if she will compile and publish a report on the circumstances in which Guardsman Shackleton was killed in Northern Ireland; and if she will assess the state of knowledge about the killing among the troops of the British Army at the time. [40694]
§ Mr. IngramThe brutal murder of Guardsman Shackleton was fully investigated by the RUC. The circumstances surrounding his murder were also widely reported in the media at the time. The Secretary of State does not believe that publishing a report at this time would be appropriate.
With regard to the knowledge about the killing among the troops in Northern Ireland, soldiers across the command were aware of the murder of one of their colleagues.
