HC Deb 12 May 1998 vol 312 c96W
Mr. Alan W. Williams

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list the income per capita for each of the unitary authorities in Wales(a) in cash terms, (b) as a percentage of the United Kingdom average and (c) as a percentage of the European Community average in the last year for which figures are available. [40089]

Mr. Hain

The available information, provided by the Office for National Statistics, is given in the following table, in respect of the former counties of Wales. A single figure is given for the counties of Dyfed and Powys, because separate estimates cannot reliably be made.

Unitary Authority estimates and European Community comparisons are not currently available.

Household income, 1994
£ per head Percentage of UK
Clwyd 8,751 90.2
Dyfed & Powys 8,391 86.5
Gwent 8,414 86.7
Gwynedd 8,983 92.6
Mid Glamorgan 7,781 80.2

West Glamorgan 8,460 7.2
Wales 8,549 88.1
