§ Mr. MichaelThe provisions for the extended supervision of sex offenders in the Crime (Sentences) Act 1997 were not implemented as they were linked to other provisions on release and post-release supervision which were unnecessarily complicated. Instead, we have brought 47W forward fresh provisions for extended supervision of sexual and violent offenders, which are contained in the Crime and Disorder Bill.
