§ Lord Williams of MostynThe possible benefits and disadvantages of different types of national identity card schemes were discussed in the 1995 Green PaperIdentity Cards: A consultation document, and the 1996 Home Affairs Committee Fourth Report on Identity Cards. The Government will continue to look at the arguments, but have not as yet reached any conclusions.
