§ Mr. SheermanTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what proposals he has to modify extradition treaties to cover persons who commit major white collar fraud. [35152]
§ Mr. MichaelMost of the extradition arrangements define "an extradition crime" by the length of the sentence served, and white-collar crime needs no special provision. The most obvious exception is the 1976 United Kingdom/United States Treaty, which still relies on a list of extradition crimes. Amendments are necessary to the 1989 Extradition Act and longer-term, to the Treaty itself.
