§ Mr. HainThe readily available information is for accidents involving personal injury on roads in built-up areas (defined as roads where the speed limit does not exceed 40 mph) or on roads in non built-up areas, as recorded by the police. The latest figures, which are provisional, are for the twelve months to September 1997. There were 6,531 accidents on built-up roads and 3,268 on non-built up roads in Wales in addition to 251 accidents on motorways/A(M) roads.
