HL Deb 23 March 1998 vol 587 c229WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What action they intend to take to achieve compliance by Iraq with United Nations Resolution 687 in respect of access by the International Committee of the Red Cross to Kuwaiti detainees removed from Kuwait in 1990–91. [HL1045]

Baroness Symons of Vernham Dean

Her Majesty's Government has always taken a keen interest in the issue of Kuwaiti detainees. We will continue to play an active role in the Tripartite Commission, insisting that Iraq provides full information on the whereabouts of the detainees and allows the International Committee of the Red Cross access to prisons and detention centres.

My honourable friend the Minister of State repeated our commitments during his recent visit to Kuwait.
