§ Clare ShortSince October 1993, the UK has provided over £38.6 million in humanitarian assistance to Burundi; including our share of assistance provided through the European Commission. Our bilateral assistance is channelled through UN agencies and international Non-Governmental Organisations. We also continue to be a major supporter of human rights work in Burundi. This month, we pledged a further £0.8 million to the UN's human rights operation.
