§ Mr. Nigel Griffiths[holding answer 16 March 19981: I share the concerns of my hon. Friend to ensure that fireworks are sold for only a limited period round events such as bonfire night and religious festivals eg diwali. The private Member's Bill of my hon. Friend the Member for Plymouth, Sutton (Mrs. Gilroy) gives power to restrict the sales period and we will be discussing this with representatives of the firework industry, consumer groups and others.
