§ Mr. HoonNo non-departmental public bodies have yet been abolished but two have been established since 1 May. These are the Civil Procedure Rule Committee, which is preparing the new code of civil procedure rules, and the Civil Justice Council, which will monitor the civil justice system to ensure that progress to modernise it continues. Both were created by the Civil Procedure Act 1997. We have budgeted for annual expenditure of £10,000 on the Rule Committee and £80,000 for the Council.
