§ Mr. Doug HendersonWe are committed to simpler and better EU legislation which conforms with the principle of subsidiarity.
This can often be achieved by simplifying existing legislation and ensuring that new legislation does not impose disproportionate burdens rather than by repeal.
We are pursuing during the UK Presidency a number of means to achieve this, for example, through the Simpler Legislation for the Internal Market (SLIM) initiative, which aims to reduce the burden of certain internal market regulations.
