HC Deb 16 March 1998 vol 308 cc459-60W
Mr. Rhodri Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what cost-sharing arrangements apply with respect to the void office areas in the leasing arrangements between his Department and the Welsh Health Common Services authority. [34767]

Mr. Ron Davies

All of the lease costs of Crickhowell House are paid direct by WHCSA to the landlord, Grovenor Waterside; no payments are made to the Department. The costs of vacant space have been covered from WHCSA reserves whilst the lease of Crickhowell House has been put on the market by WHCSA to obtain alternative tenants.

Mr. Rhodri Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list the remaining units of the Welsh Health Common Services Authority which have(a) been successfully market-tested and (b) remain in Crickhowell House; and if he will list the square footage occupied, and the rental or equivalent paid to his Department as head-lessees per square foot per annum. [34766]

Mr. Ron Davies

The units of WHCSA which have been market tested and retained within the Authority and remain in Crickhowell House are:

  • Prescription Pricing Service
  • Health Solutions Wales
  • Welsh Health Supplies.

These three units occupy 27,945 sq ft of space. Other units of WHCSA occupy a further 71,051 sq ft of space.

All rental costs of Crickhowell House are paid directly by WHCSA to the landlord Grovenor Waterside. No payments are made to the Department.

Mr. Rhodri Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will give details of the rental and service charge arrangements currently applying as between (a)Associated British Ports and his Department and (b) his Department and the Welsh Health Common Services Authority. [34768]

Mr. Ron Davies

The details of arrangements with the landlord, Grovenor Waterside, are commercially confidential, under Sections 7 and 13 of the Code of Practice on Access to Government Information. All moneys due to Grovenor Waterside are paid through WHCSA from the resources available to them.
