[HL903]

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Northern Ireland Office (Lord Dubs)

The information is not available in the form requested. There are no assessment tests in Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2 in Northern Ireland. Assessment in Key Stages 1 and 2 is based on teacher assessment supported by assessment units, assessment in Key Stage 1 is at the end of year 4 (pupils aged 8), science is not assessed at Key Stage 1 or 2, and there are no direct equivalent categories of the schools requested.

The information shown is the percentage of pupils achieving each level in statutory assessment in 1997, the percentage achieving level 2 or above in Key Stage 1 and the percentage achieving Level 4 or above in Key Stage 2 and the percentage achieving level 6 or above in Key Stage 3 in all schools in each education and library board area in Northern Ireland. As a result of a boycott of assessment by some teachers the results for some 22 per cent. of pupils are not available in Key Stages 1 and 2 and the results of some 6 per cent. are not available in Key Stage 3.
