HC Deb 16 March 1998 vol 308 c443W
Mr. Livingstone

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if his Department is planning to seek a full product licence from the Medicine Control Agency for its proposed nerve agent pre-treatment using a combination of physostigmine and hyoscine. [33801]

Dr. Reid

The research currently being carried out by the Chemical and Biological Defence sector of the Defence Evaluation and Research Agency into a proposed nerve agent pre-treatment using a combination of physostigmine and hyoscine is due to be completed in June 1999.

If the pre-treatment proves effective against nerve agent poisoning, it is likely to undergo a full safety evaluation prior to submission for approval for a full product licence from the Medicines Control Agency.
