To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, pursuant to his answer of 24 February 1998,Official Report, column 132, if he will place in the Library copies of the requests for advice sent to the European Commission as to which government policy measures qualify for a lower rate of VAT because they are defined as the supply, construction, renovation and altering of housing as part of social policy under Annex H of the Sixth VAT Directive and copies of the advice which he received from the European Commission.
