§ Mr. BakerTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list the dates since 1968 on which the Chapelcross Magnox reactor has been inspected for his Department by BNFL or its predecessor. [23403]
§ Mr. Wilson[holding answer 19 January 1998]: Chapelcross site, like all other nuclear sites in the UK, is licensed by the Health and Safety Executive's Nuclear Installations Inspectorate (NH). Regular and frequent inspections are a condition of the site licence and other statutory requirements. Since 1968 a total of 240 inspections have been carried out by the NII, who will continue the programme of inspections during the remaining operating life of the reactors on the site.
