§ Mr. FatchettWe have an important political and economic partnership with the Republic of Korea. We congratulate Korea on the democratic milestone represented by the election of President Kim Dae-jung, a long-time campaigner for democracy and human rights. We are giving significant support to help Korea overcome its economic difficulties, both bilaterally and through the IMF. We fully support efforts to bring about a lasting peace on the Korean peninsula. We look forward to welcoming President Kim to London for ASEM II in April.
