§ Angela EagleThe Genetically Modified Organisms (Contained Use) Regulations 1992, as amended in 1996, control all activities involving the contained use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs). The Regulations require that all premises where such activities are to be undertaken must be notified to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). For higher risk activities work cannot proceed until HSE has issued a consent. Low risk activities may proceed unless HSE objects.
