HC Deb 10 March 1998 vol 308 cc105-6W
Mr. Wood

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many district health authorities paid for less than 75 per cent. of abortions requested by their residents in the last year for which figures are available. [33368]

Mrs. Liddell

The information requested falls within the responsibility of the Chief Executive of the Office for National Statistics. I have asked him to arrange for a reply to be given.

Letter from Tim Holt to Mr. Mike Wood, dated 10 March 1998: As Director of the Office for National Statistics (ONS), I have been asked to reply to your parliamentary question on the number of district health authorities paying for less than 75 per cent. of abortions. In 1996, the latest year for which figures are available, there were 49 health authorities in England and Wales that paid for less than 75 per cent. of the abortions for their residents.
