§ Ms Estelle MorrisThe National Curriculum includes requirements and opportunities for pupils to study environmental issues, such as waste management. For example, pupils must be taught how considerations of sustainable development, stewardship and conservation affect environmental planning and management.
In 1996, the School Curriculum and Assessment Authority issued guidance to schools on teaching about environmental matters through the National Curriculum.
