§ Mr. MorleyA copy of the Department of Transport's letter of objection has been placed in the Library. Associated British Ports did not formally object but, as recommended by the Department of Transport, my officials spoke to the Deputy Harbour Master, ABP Southampton, who confirmed that in his view the extension proposed would represent too great an intrusion into the Thorn Channel.
