§ Mr. Michael[holding answer 2 March 1998]: We are closely monitoring the working of the criminal justice system in relation to crimes of violence. One example of a recent initiative is the adoption by the police and other agencies of new procedures for handling cases of domestic violence. Ministers across Whitehall are co-operating in efforts to co-ordinate work to provide help and information to the victims of domestic violence.
My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Social Security and Minister for Women announced in the House on 27 February 1998 the drawing up of a National Strategy to tackle all forms of violence against women.
