HC Deb 04 March 1998 vol 307 c687W
13. Mr. David Heath

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what assessment he has made of the value of public information films produced by the Central Office of Information being screened in the early hours of the morning. [30876]

Mr. Kilfoyle

Public information films are transmitted free of charge by the BBC, ITV, cable and satellite stations. Last year, TV stations donated £30 million of airtime. Just under half of that total was accounted for by transmissions between midnight and 6am.
