To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the total amount loaned by the UK to the Governments of(a) Rwanda, (b) Zaire and the Democratic Republic of the Congo and (c) Mozambique under new loan agreements made since 1 January 1968; what is the total sum repaid to date by (a) to (c) to the UK in respect of these agreements in terms of (i) principal and (ii) interest; and what is the remaining sum due to be repaid as currently scheduled in terms of (1) principal and (2) interest. [holding answer 27 February 1998]: The amount loaned by ECGD to the Governments of (a) Rwanda, (b) Zaire and The Democratic Republic of The Congo and (c) Mozambique under new loan agreements made since 1 January 1968 is nil.
