§ Mr. Ron DaviesIn 1996–97, the latest outturn year available, some 0.2% of the expenditure within my right hon. Friend's responsibility was spent on teaching and promotion of the Welsh language. Local authorities also fund Welsh medium education; the funding comes from the unhypothecated annual local government revenue settlement, and it is for individual authorities to decide how much they spend.
