§ Mr. HancockTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, pursuant to his answer of 10 February 1998,Official Report, column 166, what fishing activities are currently permitted in the area proposed for extension to the Calshot Oyster Fishery; what enforcement action has taken place in the last four years; and what is his assessment of its effectiveness. § Mr. MorleyTrawling, dredging or laying nets in the area of the proposed extension is prohibited by directions issued by the Harbour Master for the Port of 599W Southampton, in order to prevent obstruction of shipping using the main navigation channel entering the port of Southampton.
Enforcement of these restrictions is a matter for the Harbour Authority.
