§ Ms QuinThe Sexual Offences (Protected Material) Act 1997 provides a regime for supervised access by defendants to a sensitive victim statements, photographs and medical reports disclosed during criminal proceedings for sexual offences. Work is currently in hand to ensure that this legislation is implemented as soon as practicable. Governors may already take action against the circulation around prisons of material covered by the Act, and other sexually explicit material.
