To ask the Secretary of State for Health when he is likely to announce his decision regarding the strategic health review submitted by Worcestershire health authority; and if he will make a statement. [46630]

Mr. Milburn

We are aware of the decision taken by Worcestershire Health Authority to approve its preferred option for service reconfiguration, and that support for this option has been received from 2 of the 3 local Community Health Councils within Worcestershire.

As my hon. Friend will be aware, the Kidderminster and District Community Health Council has formally objected to the proposals. The submission to Ministers will be given careful consideration and a decision will be made in due course.
