The Committee on Toxicity of Chemicals in Food, Consumer Products and the Environment, in their recent review of the potential toxicity of dental amalgam, were aware of suggestions that neurological diseases such as multiple sclerosis may be associated with dental amalgam and also of the evidence against this hypothesis. They therefore did not consider it necessary to comment specifically on this matter.
