§ Mr. George HowarthThe Home Office played a significant role in the preparations for and at the United Nations General Assembly Special Session on Drugs, held in New York on 8–10 June, which I attended. The Special Session attracted a significant amount of press and media coverage in the United Kingdom. We shall take any suitable opportunities to highlight the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking but, as in recent years, we will not be taking any specific initiatives to mark the Day.
