To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) how many men have been convicted under the provisions of the Sex Offenders Act 1997, solely in respect of homosexual acts(a) with men over the age of 16 and under the age of 18 years and (b) where more than two persons were present; [46591]

(2) how many men have been convicted of an offence under section 1 of the Sexual Offences Act 1967 under the provision stipulating that privacy does not pertain where more than two people are present. [46592]

The Sex Offenders Act 1997 requires sex offenders, in the categories covered by the Act, to register details of their name and address with the police. The only offences created by the Act relate to failure to register or the supply of false registration information. These offences began to be identified separately on the Home Office Court Proceedings database from 1 January 1998, although the information recorded does not identify
