To ask the Secretary of State for Health when his departmental officials last met representatives of the Association of Community Health Councils; and what matters were discussed. [46523]

Mr. Milburn

Departmental officials last met with representatives of the Association of Community Health Councils for England and Wales (ACHCEW) on 18 February 1998 and discussed consultation processes. On a more regular basis, there is an ongoing arrangement for the National Health Service Executive Community Health Council Policy and Liaison Group to meet the ACHCEW and the Society of Community Health Council staff twice yearly.
