§ Mr. MichaelThe policing of the world cup and decisions on dealing with people who are arrested are matters for the French authorities. British and French police officers have worked together extensively in the run-up to the world cup, and are continuing to do so during the tournament. We have made it clear that the French authorities have our full support in ensuring that spectators are policed firmly and effectively and in taking proceedings against those who are arrested.
