§ Mr. MichaelProvisional figures for medical retirements from forces in England and Wales in 1997–98 are set out in the table. Similar data for the years from 1990 to 1996–97 are included in the report by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary "Lost Time: The Management of Sickness Absence and Medical Retirement in the Police Service", published in December 1997. A copy of the report is in the Library. Such information is not available for the period before 1990.
