§ Ms Glenda Jackson[holding answer 15 June 1998]: The main aim of the new finance for rural transport, announced in the Budget, is to promote additional services; it is not available for concessionary fares, 130W including taxi vouchers. Concessionary fare schemes remain a matter for individual local authorities, who will doubtless wish to consider whether taxi vouchers could provide useful flexibility in rural areas.
