§ Ms Glenda JacksonNone. Section 37 of the Disability Discrimination Act will require drivers of licensed taxis to carry passengers and their guide or hearing dogs and to do so without additional charge. The taxi provisions of the Act do not apply to private hire vehicles.
Section 37 will be brought into force after we have consulted on procedures for medical exemptions later this year.
