§ Mr. Mike O'BrienThe number of racial incidents reported to the police has risen in recent years.
Between 1992 and 1997 the number of incidents reported rose, from 7,734 in 1992 to 11,878 in 1994–95 and to 13,151 in 1996–97. That is why we are taking steps to tackle it.
